DANGEROUS CURVES PRODUCTIONS is dedicated to helping women achieve their creative goals. We are built on the principle that through hard work, dedication and belief in one’s self, dreams do come true. We at DANGEROUS CURVES PRODUCTIONS believe in nurturing the creative mind and watching it flourish, whether it is through theatre or film. It is our goal to encourage all talent, to use their freedom to be creative while enjoying the process. Every creative mind has something important to say and we would like to be the springboard that sends their messages to the public.
From The Badge of Life's January Newletter concerning Code 9The producers of the video trailer, "Code 9: Officer Needs Assistance" have asked that we continue an appeal for donations that will help them finish the final documentary. Badge of Life is giving its full support to this project—it’s a "first" and desperately needed.Dozens—hundreds—of videos and articles have been produced with the worn out advice of, "Get help when you need it." Although well meaning, it’s not enough. Police suicides continue to rise and the number of officers suffering from PTSD (and not committing suicide) is staggering. Officers mask their symptoms better than any group, and by the time they are at the cliff’s edge it is often too late for them to even hear the message. Code 9 brings us into the 21st Century. It drives home the point that, while help is there if they need it, there is much officers can do to prepare themselves and "inoculate themselves" to trauma. With training, they will take advantage of their individual strengths, build new ones, and have the resources at hand BEFORE trauma strikes—and not be helpless when it does. This doesn’t mean a combat course—this means the even harder work of learning one’s self, getting a "mental health check" every year and having a therapist already "in their pocket" if needed. It’s a New Dawn for a culture that is suspicious of and resistant to change, no matter how greatly needed. We encourage you to view the trailer and read more about this project at CODE 9, OFFICER NEEDS ASSISTANCE. More importantly, give them your help, by even a small donation or by spreading the word. This is a message that will save lives. Your partner could be one of them. Dangerous Curves and Shetler Studios have been nominated for an IT Award (New York Innovative Theatre Awards -- celebrating Off Off Broadway ) for Outstanding Performance Art Production. |
